Learn and have fun in this adventurous ‘Build then Boss’ interactive workshop. With no prior experience necessary all you’ll need is a trusty pair of hands, an internet enabled device, and a spirit of adventure.
First phase is building a small (small hedgehog size) robot from a specially designed kit of parts (Includes a Raspberry Pi mini-computer). This will involve hand/eye exercise and coordination, problem solving, and discovering how modern robots are made using lasers and 3d printing machines. Each robot (one per place) will then be “jazzed up” with some fancy dress and glitter. Once built the next step will be learning to speak some robot using a specially designed interface accessed from a web browser. From here you’ll learn to Boss your newly made creation and discover how it can dance, play music, and avoid obstacles.
The workshop is a supportive place to learn and have fun with new technology and a starting point for participants new to coding and digital technology. Parents are welcome to join their child/children in the building adventure and building works well in pairs. Bring a laptop or tablet if you have one (some spares provided for those who do not have one). There will be the option to buy your made robot and Raspberry Pi’s at the end of the workshop however this is entirely optional.
