Event Details

Learn about the increasingly popular game engine and development environment, Unity (Unity3D). This workshop will cover the basics within Unity, such as understanding the interface, knowing how to add objects into a scene, and basic scripting (programming) written in the language C#.

Skill Level

Beginners & Intermediate (Age 10+)

It is recommended (but not strictly necessary) if you understand the following:

  • Understanding of 3D spatial coordinate systems
  • Basic understanding of functions and variables in programming
  • Understanding of the use of indents and curly brackets ({}) to define start and end of code sections

Duration of Workshop

1 hour 30 mins.

Preparation and Equipment

You MUST bring a laptop with Unity installed. Preferably version 4.5.3 upwards. Download from:  http://unity3d.com/unity/download

Please also ensure that you have registered an email account with Unity (they won’t spam you) so that you can activate the free version (no time limit). This means that you should see the “Create new project” window when you run Unity. You can get help downloading this in Bay 1 before the workshop begins.
