Event Details

Learn how to make a Unity2D platformer game, with animation and sound. We will go through using some of the principal components of game creating in Unity. Including: Game Objects, Components, Prefabs, Physics and Scripting(C#). At the end of the workshop you will have a core components of a platformer, that you can continue to work on and develop into a fully fledged game.

Preparation and Equipment

  1. To participate in this workshop, you will need to bring your own laptop with Unity already installed and your own FREE account. We recommend that you bring the latest version of Unity (2017.x) but this workshop is fully compatible with Unity (5.6+). Download here: http://unity3d.com/unity/download. You can get help downloading at the laptop loan desk.
  2. Please also ensure that you have registered an email account with Unity (they won’t spam you) so that you can activate the free version (no time limit). This means that you should see the “Create new project” window when you run Unity. You can get help downloading this at the help desk before the workshop begins.
  3. “We will supply all assets (Images + Sounds) you need to get your game running, but if you have any artwork you would like to incorporate into your game, feel free to bring it along (as an image file) and we will do our best to help you add it to your game. We also recommend you bring an external mouse, if you do not have one we can loan you one, collect from the help desk.
